Under most leases a Leaseholder is required to get consent before making any alterations to his/her property. It's a simple process known as an application for a Licence to Alter.
A License to Alter changes your lease forever. Once granted it provides the freedom to make alterations to your property and keep them.
It's important to get this paperwork sorted out because, even if your alterations are not structural, you will be in breach of your lease if your proposals are affected by existing planning law.
Remember, you may experience difficulties in selling your property if you have made unregulated changes to your property.
